WHAT THE VILLAGE IS
A monthly gathering of women
They say it takes a village. The problem is that most of us have to build ours from scratch.
The Village is a monthly women's circle held at my home in Newark, DE โ a space for women at every stage of the motherhood journey to gather, share a meal, and be witnessed by other women who understand this season without needing it explained.
Each month we gather around a theme โ something drawn from the intersection of motherhood, womanhood, and the deeper crossings of a woman's life. The circle has a specific structure and set of guidelines designed to move us beyond surface-level connection into something more honest, more nourishing, and more real.
This is not a playgroup. It is not a networking event. It is a sacred, structured space where women practice the art of being truly heard โ and of truly hearing others.
After the circle we break into informal connection and share a meal together. You are welcome to leave with a container of food โ enough to carry you through the rest of the day or into your week.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE CIRCLE
What to expect
The circle is very different from an informal gathering. There is structure โ and that structure is what makes the magic possible.
Each gathering includes a format to connect you to your body, your inner wisdom, and the theme of the month. You will be invited to share your own nuanced truth โ and to hold other women with empathy and compassion as they share theirs.
We prioritize connection over bias, judgment, and the competition that naturally arises in our human experience โ especially in motherhood. There is no advice-giving unless explicitly asked for. This is a space to practice entering into deeper layers of connecting to ourselves and with others.
What is shared in the circle stays in the circle.
WHO THIS IS FOR
For women within the threshold of the Maiden and the Mother
ย
Thinking of having children or trying to conceive
You are psychologically approaching the Mother archetype. Your consciousness is beginning to prime itself for the motherhood journey. You want to start building a network of women who speak openly about the nuances, joys, complexities, and realities of pregnancy, postpartum, and being a mother while remaining herself.
Pregnant
You are awaiting the arrival of your baby โ perhaps for the first time, perhaps again. You understand the importance of surrounding yourself with women who get it. You want to build your village before you need it.
Postpartum or well into motherhood
You have crossed the threshold. You understand that for your psychology and spirit to fully cross it too, connection with a village of women is an integral part of the integration. You also recognize the importance of not losing yourself in the mother role โ of maintaining your own interests, pleasures, and wellbeing alongside it.

WHY THIS MATTERS
Connection is not a luxury. It is a biological need
Recent studies of the perinatal period have found that a sense of community alleviates stress as significantly as any other intervention. Our nervous systems feel safer and more regulated when we are in the presence of other women moving through similar seasons.
A lot of the anxiety around motherhood and womanhood can be remedied simply by conversing authentically with other women who understand. In doing so we rebuild the wealth of knowledge surrounding the female body, our fertility, our identity shifts, and so much more.
The village was never meant to be something we build alone. But in the absence of the one that was meant to surround us, we build it ourselves.
That is what The Village is for.
